Adventure style games almost always find ways to hinder the player’s progress until they complete certain tasks to continue. One of the most common of these is playing a sleeping creature in the way, which is nothing new for the Legend of Zelda series. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening features this as well on your way towards the game’s fourth dungeon in the form of a sleeping walrus and this guide will explain what you need to do to move him.
Similar to Snorlax in the Pokemon series, you’ll need to find a way to wake the walrus up, because you’re certainly not going to be able to push him aside with small little Link. The first step you’re going to have to pull off here is to speak to Chef Bear in Animal Village, as laid out in the how to trade the Honeycomb guide.
He will reveal that you need to get Marin to awake the sleeping walrus, so your next task is to go find her, which is broken down in our guide about where Marin is. After you find Marin, you must bring her back to the Animal Village and then go back south to the walrus and interact with it to have Marin sing and wake it up. Once you do this, he will move out of the way and let you pass and make your way into Yarna Desert.
