While the majority of players in Mortal Kombat 11 will attempt to execute combos and utilize special abilities, every now and then you’ll encounter a player who loves to use throw moves. Now their is nothing wrong with them per say, in fact they’re an excellent way to turn the tide of battle in your favor. But what if you’re on the receiving end of a throw attack? They do a good amount of damage, and you’ll need to be prepared to deal with them when it happens. Thankfully, their is a way to avoid the throw move, and we’ll explain it here.
How to counter a Throw Attack
Your opponent will most likely use their throw attack whilst you are blocking, when you press down the right trigger button (PS4 R2, Xbox One RT, Switch R). Because of these circumstances, it is literally impossible to block a throw move. Despite the inevitability of this, their is a way to escape the dreaded throw attack and dodging massive damage in the process. It’s also important to note that their are two throw moves for each fighter, a normal one and forward movement one.
The exact moment that you are being grabbed by your opponent, immediately press the Front Punch Button or your Front Kick button. If they use a forward throw move then immediately press either your Back Punch Button or your Back Kick Button. If done correctly, you will cancel their throw attack and create a potentially winning situation for yourself. Remember, you must hit either of this buttons at the right moment or you will be in for a world of hurt.
